1 in 3 Canadian Farmers Struggle with Mental Health. The idea of The Farmers' Toolbox was born the summer of 2018, the Listowel Agricultural Society’s Ambassador Program was awarded money through RBC Royal Bank’s Community grant. This donation served as the catalyst for the concept of Dinner on Tremaine, an event held in June 2019. The goal of the event was to raise funds and awareness for local mental health initiatives, with a focus on supporting those involved in agriculture. The dinner portion of the event was used to highlight the incredible diversity of local agriculture, showcasing all locally sourced ingredients and beverages. The evening was emceed by a past Listowel Ag Society President Steve Dolson, and we were honored to have local farmer and mental health advocate Stewart Skinner speak at this event. Evening entertainment was provided by the talented Cara Smith Band. The event was an outstanding success with beautiful weather and a grand total of $13,600.30 raised. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers, sponsors and attendees. The Farmers' Toolbox is a website serving as a mental health resource database. The information has been curated for farmers, and anyone in the agricultural industry.
